Who runs this site

This site is run by Shadow Fen (“the band”, “we”). For anything on this page, or to make a request about your data, email band@shadowfen.co.uk.

Registered legal-entity name and postal address for the data controller: to be confirmed and added here.

What we collect

Almost nothing. The site is a marketing hub with no accounts and no sign-in. Apart from the contact form and the mailing-list signup (both below), the only thing it stores on your device is a theme preference (dark or light), kept in your browser’s localStorage so the site remembers your choice. That is a local setting, not a cookie, and it is not personal data - it never leaves your device and we never see it.

The contact form

When you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you enter. We use them for one thing: to read your message and reply. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch.

Your message is delivered to the band by email through Amazon SES (Amazon Web Services), which acts as a processor carrying the message on our behalf. We keep the resulting email only as long as we need it to handle your enquiry, then delete it. To ask what we hold or to have it removed, email band@shadowfen.co.uk.

Cookies and tracking

The site sets no analytics, tracking, or marketing cookies, and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Because there is nothing to consent to, there is no cookie banner.

Third-party services

Some content is hosted elsewhere and is only ever reached when you choose to interact with it. Video uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain and loads only after you click play - nothing from YouTube runs before then. Links to streaming platforms and social networks are plain outbound links; once you follow one, that service’s own privacy policy applies.

The mailing list

If you join the mailing list from the site footer, we collect the email address you enter to send you occasional updates about new music, shows, and word from the fen. The lawful basis is your consent, which you give by confirming your subscription.

We use Mailchimp (Intuit Mailchimp) to manage the list and send these emails; your email address is stored by Mailchimp as a processor acting on our behalf. Mailchimp is a US-based service, so your email is transferred to and stored in the United States under the safeguards its provider maintains. Signup is double opt-in - after you submit the form, Mailchimp sends a confirmation email and you are only added once you follow the link in it. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in the footer of any email we send, or by emailing band@shadowfen.co.uk to be removed.

Your rights

You can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and complain to your local data-protection authority. As the site collects essentially nothing, most requests will be short - but email band@shadowfen.co.uk and we’ll help.

Terms & intellectual property

This site and its contents are provided as-is, for information about the band. Outbound links go to services we don’t control, and we’re not responsible for their content.

Except where noted, everything here - the words, the artwork, the photography, the wordmark, and the world and lore of Shadow Fen - is © Shadow Fen and the band’s own. Please don’t reuse it without permission. For press and licensing, email band@shadowfen.co.uk.
